Fresh Foods Guide

A small handful of appropriate, mixed fresh vegetables should be fed daily to each guinea pig. Many fruits and vegetables should be fed very sparingly. Use this guide to know what's safe.

Very Important: Don't Overfeed Fresh Foods

Too much fresh food can prevent your guinea pigs from eating enough hay. It is essential your guinea pigs have free access to fresh hay all the time. Fresh greens should make up no more than a small handful as part of their daily diet, chosen from a variety of foods on the suitable-for-daily-feeding list. Vitamin C is essential: Guinea pigs cannot produce their own vitamin C and need approximately 10mg/kg/day. Bell peppers, coriander leaves, and rocket are excellent sources of vitamin C.
